The Sibling Theory......

Image
Sibling : Each of two or more children or offspring having one or both parents in common; a brother or sister………now this is what “sibling” means according to dictionaries. My understanding is a little bit different. I have a younger sibling so my perspective of writing this blog is through an elder’s eye. According to my higher scale of knowledge, a sibling is someone who doesn’t only share a parent but also shares your space, your comfort, your food, your toys, your books, etc. So basically anything that you claim to be yours is theirs and gradually it becomes entirely theirs. Strangely, you are more than okay with this development. It’s as if you submit to their wishes because it gives you utmost happiness. When you’re a young kid and people often visit you, and by ‘people’ I mean relatives and unknown humans who claim to be “friends” of your parents and act as if you are an intriguing creature whose cheeks suddenly seem in dire need of kneading, hence they are pulled and pinched i

Friendship: I'll be there for you, 'cause you're there for me too......

Life is beautiful and worthwhile. It’s a journey that is meant to be embraced to the fullest every single day. Elton John very rightfully says “Live for each second without hesitation”. Life gives us many unexpected blows and many memorable moments. This year came as a thunderbolt and thrashed many lives all over the world. To live life to the fullest, optimism is the only path one should tread upon. Happy mind is synonymous to happy life. These lockdown days have righteously taught many a soul to find hope or optimism after a lot of tremulous thoughts and sleepless nights. Happiness is a very relative term. Reading is one such activity which not only bestows immense pleasure but also enriches one’s mind with positive notions. Listening to music, sketching, painting, gardening are some exciting activities one can find pleasure in. But the ultimate one is catching up with old friends. During these days of mobility restrictions, one can find solace in just a little telephonic conve

The Homemaker: Misconception of the Stereotypes

The Homemaker: Misconception of the Stereotypes Homemaker ….a word so neglected, that it is often accompanied by the question “what do they do anyway?!”….well, my answer to that is quite simple, they make a standard wall and hook apartment, a “ home ”. They are always on a 24/7 work duty with a team that consists of a pair of hands and legs, and an extremely active brain that thinks and works at an unknowingly fast speed. Even though, another particular profession is said to be the oldest, I think homemaking provides better qualifications for the spot. The traditional conception of the society regarding a homemaker was that of an ever-tired, grey haired lady in old faded clothes whose face seems to have worry and stress creases that closely resemble the cracks on the walls, while the tears rolling down her cheeks drop in sync with the water dripping down the ceiling……. Seems like a typical Indian movie??....in short it’s like, “ek abala naari, ghar ke kaamon mein uljhi hui bechari”

The Quarantine Thoughts

Life…seems to be a simple and easy word...is it though? I think it’s more of a long ride that at times can be surprisingly slow and stable (which is generally termed as “boring”) but, sometimes it suddenly gets filled with twists and turns and transforms into a roller coaster of high emotional, mental and sometimes physical rush. Now these twists and turns are what we now a days call “global events”...they may turn out to be good for some and bad for others. Now that 2020 has been somewhat named as the “doom’s year”, the most unpredictable months were that of March to May for Indians and the entire world. These months gave us an unforgettable and kind of historic term, “Lockdown”. Before this pandemic situation this term was just a dictionary addition far strange to the layman. But now, our lives have started to revolve around it. Middle class households in India are diverse beyond imagination….they are generally similar yet extraordinarily different in every small aspect. But, there
